Patrick’s 11th Birthday party

Have you heard about this local lawyer that had a 400-pound camera boom strike him on the head while attending a concert? His name is Patrick Fagerberg, and his traumatic brain injury developed into Savant syndrome. Now 11 years later, we are celebrating his birth as an artist.
I will be showing work alongside Patrick, and fellow artist Ender Martos. A film created to accompany Ender’s brand new giant sculpture ‘Rebirth of Technology’ in Houston will premier during the event.
Enjoy art, food, drinks, music, and more at this exclusive event.

MIND:FULL

I’m happy to have my two bears be for auction at MIND: FULL in Houston this April.

My embrace failure bears made from past failed Batiks’ fabric during a creative block, remind me of what gives me joy in making art.
They are a product of full self-forgiveness, created in this hard place between discovery and ultimate failure. By changing my failing into a soft and huggable result, I hope to give their new owners this feeling of self-forgiveness and self-kindness.

My favorite part about this show created by Houston-based organization Artists 4 artists is that a portion of the proceeds benefits TX:US Little Galleries, Creative Wellness programs, and the MendCenter. Artists 4 Artists bridge the gap between artists and healthcare providers, increasing access to mental health resources.

I will be showing alongside some great artists like Adrian Aguilera, Bettelhem Makonnen, Virginia Lee Montgomery, Elizabeth Chapin, and many more.

FOaMO Solo at Ivester Contemporary

Ivester Contemporary is pleased to present a new series of experimental works by Steef Crombach called FOaMO. Crombach reimagines traditional craft techniques through her innovative use of expanding foam and a fabric mold making process she developed, to create abstracted paintings and representational balloon like soft-sculptures of roadkill. Crombach’s use of unexpected shape, color and pattern is exciting and approachable, but upon closer inspection, her work reveals feelings of alienation and intends to evoke a broader perspective of our daily reality. The combination of European classical painting with depictions of roadkill indicates the artist’s own sense of estrangement living in Austin and longing for her home country of The Netherlands. Crombach treats daily iconography as clues to how we think and move, and she offers a new twist on what is weird in Austin.

Howdy Stranger

ICOSA Collective & Concept Animals present “Howdy, Stranger: The Culminating Exhibition of Crit Nites Virtual” opening reception

“Howdy, Stranger” is the culminating exhibition of the first series of Crit Nites, an inclusive critique group for Austin working artists. This group exhibition brings to life the fruits of the critical conversations of 40 artists and 8 moderators shared through Crit Nites Virtual in 2021. Crit Nites is a collaborative effort between ICOSA Collective and concept animals, and the Howdy, Stranger exhibition is made possible by our generous hosts at Perkins&Will.
